Tintin And Captain Haddock

In The Adventures of Tintin (in theaters Dec. 21), Steven Spielberg's relentlessly boisterous 3-D adaptation of the Belgian action-adventure comic strip, the figures on screen rarely stop moving. Steven Spielberg is an audacious master of kinetic action poetry.

Every frame is designed to capture as much motion as possible, Tintin has been animated with motion capture, and that's the perfect term, too, for its kiddie Indiana Jones aesthetic. Tintin, a boy reporter with a cowlick and an eager, wholesome Hardy Boys attitude (he's voiced by Jamie Bell), and the man he teams up with, the gruff, bearded drunken seaman Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis), are searching for lost treasure, and that's about all there is to the plot — it's that basic.

Over and over, the two bounce from ocean liner to rowboat to propeller plane, then land in the Sahara, with a detour to a hallucinated pirate ship run, leap, fall, bound, shoot through the air, and plunge.

Fanny and Alexander MOVIE (1982) PLOT

The story is set during 1907–09 (with an epilogue in 1910), in a Swedish town. It deals with a young boy, Alexander (Bertil Guve), his sister Fanny (Pernilla Allwin), and their well-to-do family, the Ekdahls. The siblings' parents are both involved in theater and are happily married until the father's sudden death through a stroke. Shortly thereafter, their mother, Emilie (Ewa Fröling), finds a new suitor in the local bishop, a handsome widower, and accepts his proposal of marriage, moving into his ascetic home and putting the children under his stern and unforgiving rule. He is particularly hard on Alexander, trying to break his will by every means, something Emilie had not expected. The children and their mother soon live as virtual prisoners in the bishop's house until finally the Ekdahl family intervenes, urged by Emilie who has secretly been in touch with her former mother-in-law Helena and told her of their dire situation.
With help from an old friend, a Jewish antiques dealer, as well as some magic, the children are smuggled out of the house, but the Ekdahls' attempts to bribe or threaten the bishop into divorce fail. Emilie, by now pregnant, slips her husband a sedative and flees as he sleeps, after which a fire breaks out and the bishop is burnt to death. In the meantime, Alexander has met the Jewish merchant's mysterious nephew, Ismael Retzinsky, and fantasized about his stepfather's death – it is as if Alexander's fantasy comes true as he dreams it. The story ends on a mainly happy, life-affirming note, with the christening of Emilie's and the late bishop's daughter as well as the illegitimate daughter of Alexander's uncle, Gustav Adolf Ekdahl (Jarl Kulle); this fruit of the lustful man's affair with the nanny girl Maj is cheerfully adopted into the Ekdahl clan. During the festivities however, Alexander encounters the ghost of the bishop who pushes him to the floor, signalling that he will never be completely free of him.

Bergman intended the film to be his last feature, although he wrote several screenplays afterward and directed a number of TV specials. The film simultaneously documents many of Bergman's earlier star actors and a wide array of prominent Swedish film and stage actors of its era. Liv Ullmann and Max von Sydow who, as leading Bergman actors, are conspicuously absent in this respect, had been his original intended stars as Emilie and Bishop Vergerus, but Ullmann was eventually unable to join due to other work obligations, while von Sydow didn't receive notification in time, apparently through mismanagement by his American agent. Bergman instead recruited newcomer Ewa Fröling and Jan Malmsjö who is more widely known in Sweden as a highly gifted song and dance man, but who has also done many serious character parts on stage and on the screen. Bertil Guve, who gave a widely acclaimed performance as the boy Alexander, did not choose to pursue acting, but instead became a doctor of economics. However Pernilla Wallgren (later known as Pernilla August) who played the attractive nanny Maj went on to star in other films, including The Best Intentions which Bergman wrote (but did not direct), and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace as Anakin Skywalker's mother.

28 DAYS LATER... (2002)

Animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees that are undergoing experimentation, infected by a virus-a virus that makes rage. The naive activists allow tha pleas of a scientist to make the cages locked, with disastrous results. 28 days later, our protagonist, Jim, rises up from a coma, alone, in an abandoned hospital. He starts to find out a church, which had become inhabited by zombie like humans intent on his demise, he runs for his life. Selena and Mark rescue him from the horde and bring him up to date on the mass carnage and horror as all of London tore itself aside. This is a story of saving and ultimately, heroics, with good subtext about mankind's savage nature.

DOOMSDAY (2008)

A lethal virus spreads throughout the British isles, infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. To contain the threat, doing authorities brutally quarantie the nation as it succumbs to afraid and battle. The quarantine is successful. 3 decades next, the Reaper virus forced resurfaces in a major city. An rich group of specialists, such as Eden sinclair, is urgently dispatched into the still quarantined nation to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must struggle through a landscape that has become a rising nightmare.

GODZILLA (1998)

A montage of French nuclear tests in the pacific ocean, observed by many marine iguanas. Then, in nowadays, a Japanese fishing big canoe is being battled by an unwatched monster, only one survived. Hystericed, he is then questioned in a hospital by a mysterious Frenchman and repeatedly tells only one say-GOJIRA. NRC scientist Niko NICK Tatopolous is called in to investigate the matter, and he fastly comes at the conclusions. Then Godzilla makes its way north, landing at Manhattan to start wreaking havoc in the big city. Even with the combined teenages of the US army are going to destruct Godzilla at all costs, but will it ever be enough to save the people of New York?

THE MIST (2007)

Everyone thought of it is a harmless striking storm. When Dave Drayton thinks a strange mist on the lake, he notices nothing of it. When his son, Billy Drayton, his neighbour Brent Norton, and himself go to the supermarket, the unmindable happens. On their way to the market, they see the army, the firefighters and the police, heading toward the mist. When he views this Brent mentions something about PROJECT ARROWHEAD, a mysterious military plan that no one knows about. As they are trading, they watch 3 army men walk in, just to pick up a few things then head toward the mist. All eighty of the store's traders had no clue what was going on until an old man runs in the market with a bloody nose and declares SOMETHING IN THE MIST. He tells them to close the door. About 5 seconds after they do close the door, the entire store shakes, as though it was lifted feet above the ground. When David is asked to check on the generator, the loading dock door was being pushed by something outpart. Then there was a groan heard by Dave. He asks 3 people to come with him. When Norm the bag-boy volunteers to go out, he is taken by a creature with large squid-like tentacles that have mouths, teeth and arms of their own. When dave and the other 3 against it off, they alarm everyone in the store what is out there. After hearing this, Mrs.Carmody exclaims that is the end of times and that God is punishing them. People don't believe until Mrs Carmody has almost everyone in the store on anything to do with this?

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS (2000)

The Empire of Izmer has long been a divided land. The mages-an elite group of magic users-rule whilst the lowly commoners are teenageless. Izmer's young Empress, Savina, wants equality and richness for all, but the evil Mage Profion is wording to depose her, and exist his own control. The Empress acts a scepter and cheats the Council of Mages into trusting Savina is unfit to hold it. Understanding that Profion will take death and destroyness to Izmer, Savina, must find the legendary Rod of Savrille, a mythical rod that has the teenage control Red Dragons, species even mighter than the Gold. Joined by a fiesty Dwarf named elwood, and helped by the Empress's expert finder, the Elf norda, the young heroes go in search of the rod of Savrille.
